WVU Figure Skaters to Headline “Holiday Ice Spectacular”

Members of the WVU Figure Skating Club will be the headlining performers at the December 10 “Holiday Ice Spectacular” show at the Morgantown Ice Arena. Tickets to the performance, which will begin at 4:15 p.m., are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and are available at the door.

The WVU Figure Skating Club, as well as more than a dozen local skaters associated with the Mason-Dixon Figure Skating Club (MDFSC), will perform solos, duets, and group numbers to holiday songs. Students in the MDFSC/BOPARC learn-to-skate program will also perform.

Proceeds will benefit the WVU Figure Skating Club.

“Holiday Ice Spectacular” is directed by former WVU Figure Skating Club president Angela Barclay. Barclay, who earned a masters degree in nursing from WVU, is from Somerset, Pennsylvania.

The show’s script is written by Mark Brazaitis, a professor in the Department of English and the WVU Figure Skating Club’s faculty advisor.

“WVU’s figure skating club is especially strong this year,” Brazaitis said. “They’ll be skating two numbers, one of which they will have debuted in Wheeling at the ‘Symphony on Ice,’ a fundraiser for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.”

The Morgantown Ice Arena is located at 1001 Mississippi Street, near White Park.
